Be Bear Smart

About Us

Nestled on the edge of the Cascade Mountains, we enjoy the sounds of songbirds, the sight of deer grazing and the opportunity to view various kinds of wildlife, including bears in our neighborhood.

Who We Are

Neighborhood Wildlife Stewards are neighbors living in Issaquah Highlands, who are passionate about teaching our community how to live safely and responsibly with bears and other wildlife in our backyards.

Our Goals

We are an educational resource for the community. Our aim is to inspire appreciation and responsibility for the wildlife in the our surrounding woods by keeping wildlife wild and creating a safe environment for our community.

Volunteer Opportunities

There are many projects you can help us with:

Organizing community meetings, photographing wildlife, writing monthly wildlife articles for the Connections paper, leading bird outings, distributing informational bear material to neighbors, and more.

Monthly Meetings

Come join us at Blakely Hall. We meet every second Tuesday of every month from 7-8pm. If you have any questions, please contact us at wildlifestewards@gmail.com
