Bear Activity Maps in Issaquah Highlands

Since 2008 we have been tracking black bear activity in the Highlands. The black bears are in our community because many people store their garbage cans outside or have bird feeders out during bear season. This causes bears to be lured into our neighborhoods for an easy, high calorie meal. For these reasons, bears are sighted in people's backyards, and reported to us. Another way that we track bear activity is by patrolling the community every Friday morning before garbage is picked up and recording where garbage cans are knocked down.
